December Want List Wednesday

December 7, 2011

Since August I have been posting these Want List Wednesday articles on the first Wednesday of each month.  They have been posted as a separate series from my Project Progress Report articles, which is a series that has also included a want list component and have been a part of the bbbros.ca blog since January of this year.

Want List Wednesdayposts feature sets that I am working on completing simply because I am close to finishing them off.  In all likelihood they will eventually end up being posted for sale in my eBay store, as the likelihood of me making them a part of my personal collection is quite low.  These sets are of a low priority in terms of how I want to how I want to spend my collecting budget and virtually non-existent as a priority in my collecting goals.

Project Progress Reports, on the other hand, feature the collecting projects that I actually care about progressing towards completion on.  They each offer a significant challenge in terms of the chances I will ever and have a much better chance (in my opinion) of holding some sort of long-term value.

From almost the moment I started writing the first Want List Wednesdayarticle, I was concerned about the redundancy of having two want-list focussed articles appearing just seven days apart.  Separating the lists based solely on the priority of the projects felt like a flimsy excuse and as time has gone on I have become convinced that there is really no need to.

No matter how I tried to justify it, the fact remains that both series are dedicated to crossing items off of a list.  Today I am happy to say that this will be the final independent Want List Wednesdayto appear on the bbbros.ca blog.

Beginning on the first Wednesday of January I will be combining the two want list related posts into one super-post of want list goodness!  That leaves a final Project Progress Report at the end of this month, then it will be on to a better coordinated attack on my want lists.

Another thing I am happy to report with this final independent post in this series it that it also involves another significant removal of items from the want list!

The completion of my 2002-03 Upper Deck Series 1 set.  Taking twelve cards off of the 2006-07 Upper Deck Series 1 list.  Reducing the list of needs for 2007-08 Fleer Hot Prospects from three to one. 29 less cards to chase from 2007-08 Upper Deck Series 1.  And 18 cards added to the 2008-09 Upper Deck Series 2 set.

Dave from the blog Wax Stain Rookie (@forestrydave on Twitter) played a huge role in the additions this month, contributing 61 of the 66 cards to the haul through a trade I discussed in a post two and a half weeks ago.

Listed below are what’s left on the list prior to it merging with the one found in my Project Progress Reports.  If you’re able to help eliminate anything from the list please be  sure to let me know.

You can email me at bb_bros@hotmail.com, post a comment, or connect with me on Facebook and Twitter.

Until Sunday, all the best in your collecting pursuits!

Ryan
